Minutes: Special City Council Meeting of January 28, 2021

The Carmi City Council met Thursday, January 28, 2021, at 5:30 p.m. via telephone conference for a Special City Council Meeting.

Mayor Pollard called the meeting to order with the following Aldermen present via telephone conference: Steve Winkleman, Mark W. Blake, Tracy Nelson, James Totten, Sheila Headlee, Jeremy Courson, Mike Knight, and Doug Hays.    

For council consideration, discussion, and possible approval

  1. Resolution 01-28-21:  A resolution accepting a grant from the Illinois Housing Development Authority’s Strong Communities Program.   Mayor Pollard stated the City of Carmi has received a $100,000 grant from the Illinois Housing Development Authority to attempt to acquire some abandoned homes and demolish them.  He stated the funds may be used for acquisition, legal work, and demolition.  The purpose of this meeting is to approve the resolution which will allow the Mayor to sign the letter accepting the grant.  It will also allow both the Clerk and Treasurer to sign the necessary documents.  Alderman Headlee made a motion to approve Resolution 01-28-21; A resolution accepting a grant from the Illinois House Development Authority’s Strong Communities Program.  Alderman Totten 2nd the motion.  The motion carried on roll call with each Alderman present answering “yes.”

Adjournment

At 5:34 p.m. Alderman Headlee made a motion to adjourn.  Motion was seconded by Alderman Winkleman.  The motion carried on roll call by each Alderman present answering “yes.”
