Chamber Releases Tentative Schedule for It’s a White County Christmas

The City of Carmi and White County residents will once again this year have a chance to celebrate Christmas, right here at home, in a big way during the annual It’s a White County Christmas celebration.
The festivities will be underway beginning on November 13 with Business After Hours hosted by H.D. Bean Jewelers. Friday, November 21, will kick off the Holiday Shopping Stroll. That day will also include the HCE Chocolate Tasting and a Gospel Sing. Saturday, November 22 will be a full day including the Daughters of the American Revolution Festival of Trees, the Reindeer Run and the continuation of the shopping stroll.
The activities continue the following weekend with the official arrival of Santa Claus during the lighted It’s a White County Christmas Parade, themed “Frozen Wonderland,” set to begin at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 29. “I hope that businesses and community organizations are making plans to participate in this lighted parade,” noted Chamber Director Holly Healy. The official tree lighting will be held immediately following the parade.
“In addition to the tree lighting, the Holiday Shopping Stroll will continue on November 28 and 29. We want to encourage local residents to buy the majority of their gifts right here at home from our local merchants” noted Healy
In addition Santa will be visiting with children in his house on weekends, beginning November 29. A complete schedule of Santa’s hours will be made available at a later date.
Breakfast with Santa is planned at the American Legion for December 6. Santa is also scheduled to make an appearance at Story Hour at the Carmi Public Library on December 13 at 1:00 p.m.
Plans continue to be made for It’s a White County Christmas, including favorite contests such as the Gingerbread House Decorating Contest, Storefront Window Contest and the pageant.  Craft shows will be held November 29 and December 12. “Continue to follow the Carmi Chamber of Commerce on Facebook and our It’s a White County Christmas Facebook page for updates. A detailed schedule will be released in the near future,” Healy noted.
It’s a White County Christmas is produced by the Carmi Chamber of Commerce and brought to you in part by Brown’s Fertilizer and Chemical.
