The Carmi Chamber of Commerce will host the annual CWCHS Scholarship Golf Tournament Saturday, June 28 at the Carmi Country Club. Golfers are needed for both the 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. shotgun start. The scholarships benefit students at the Carmi-White County High School.
The “best-ball” tournament format features four-person teams at a cost of $50 per member, which includes all green fees, cart fees and lunch. Each member of the winning team will receive a $100 gift certificate to the country club and a commemorative tournament golf shirt.
Members of the second place team will each received $50 country club gift certificates, and third place team members will receive $25 gift certificates.
Prizes will also be awarded for the longest drive, longest putt and closest to the pin contests.
“A $10,000 cash prize will be awarded to any golfer fortunate enough to hit a hole-in-one on one of the designated holes that day,” said golf tournament Education Committee Chairman Caleb Hughes.
“All of the money raised will be used to continue the scholarship program for Carmi-White County High School graduates. Scholarship winners receive a $4000 scholarship paid at $1000 each year for the first four years of college” Hughes said.
Lunch will be provided for all golfers and sponsors from noon to 1 p.m. Individuals that would like to attend, but not wishing to play golf, may purchase lunch for $10.
One may register by calling the Chamber office at 382-7606 or by stopping at the office located in the City Building on West Main Street. Deadline for golf registrations is Friday, June 20.
Sponsorships of various levels are also available to fund the event, beginning at $100. Those interested in a sponsorship could contact the Chamber office no later than May 27.
