The Carmi City Council met Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Room of the Municipal Building, 225 East Main Street.
Prior to opening the council meeting, Mayor Pollard asked Alderman Winkleman to give the invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Pollard presided with the following Aldermen present: Steve Winkleman, Mark W. Blake, Tracy Nelson, Jeremy Courson, Sheila Jo Headlee, Mike Knight, and Doug Hays. ABSENT: Lance Yearby.
The minutes from the January 2, 2019, council meeting were presented. Alderman Winkleman stated there was an error on the minutes: Alderman Headlee had made a motion to adopt renewal B for the Mutual Medical Plans and had also seconded the motion. This was a typographical error. Clerk Attebury will correct this. A motion was made by Alderman Knight and seconded by Alderman Hays to approve the minutes with the noted correction. The motion carried on roll call by each Alderman present answering “yes.”
The December 2018 Financial Reports for the City of Carmi and Carmi Light & Water were presented to the council for consideration. A motion was made by Alderman Headlee for approval of the December 2018 Financial Reports. The motion was seconded by Alderman Blake. The motion carried on roll call by each Alderman present answering “yes.”
The vendor invoices for January 2019 for the City of Carmi and Carmi Light & Water were presented for approval. A motion was made by Alderman Winkleman to approve the January 2019 vendor invoices. The motion was seconded by Alderman Headlee. The motion carried on roll call by each Alderman present answering “yes.”
There was no business for the council to discuss.
Reports and/or updates from Mayor Pollard
Mayor Pollard stated City Supervisor Mike Buckman had been in contact with the railroad company regarding the crossing on Fifth Street. This project will be on the docket for 2019 to be repaired.
Mayor Pollard announced the next electronic recycling event will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at 520 North Third Street. Mayor Pollard reminded everyone that you cannot take electronics to the location and drop them off before the recycle date.
Closed Session to discuss personnel and property issues with no action to follow:
At 5:37 p.m. Alderman Headlee made a motion to enter into closed session to discuss property and personnel issues. The motion was seconded by Alderman Courson. The motion carried on roll call by each Alderman present answering “yes.”
Adjournment
At 7:07 p.m. Alderman Headlee made a motion to return to open session and adjourn. The motion was seconded by Alderman Courson. The motion carried on roll call by each Alderman present answering “yes.”
