The City of Carmi has added a lower lobby with a pneumatic tube system at ground level of City Hall, located at 225 E Main Street. The pneumatic tube system is now operational and open for the public’s use. This new system will be used for utility bill payments and questions, setting up new accounts, closing accounts, requests for City permits, and the vast majority of other City services will now be handled through the tube system, which is similar to using a tube system at a bank drive through.
As always, the Light & Water drop boxes in the front or back of the building may still be used for bill payment. Additionally, customers may also call 618-382-5555 for assistance or to pay bills over the phone. Online bill payment and payment by mail are also available.
“We hope this new system will be beneficial to the public,” noted Mayor Jeff Pollard.
