The Carmi Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce two additional contests for this year’s It’s a White County Christmas. The 2021 Gingerbread House Decorating Contest and Taste of Baking Contest.
The Gingerbread House Decorating Contest is open to any resident of White County. Individuals or groups may enter. There is no fee to enter, and entry forms must be turned in no later than 3p.m. Monday, November 22 at the Chamber of Commerce office, located at 225 E Main Street in Carmi or by email chamber@cityofcarmi.com.
The Gingerbread Houses will be on display to the public from 10am-2pm and again after the lighted Christmas parade and tree lighting until 8pm on Saturday November 27, 2021, in the First Mid Bank room. Houses may be picked up from the Chamber office on Monday, November 29 from 10am to 2:30pm.
There are two categories and a total of six divisions for individual entries: Made from Scratch: age 13 and 17, and 18 and older; Made from Kit, age 8 and under, age 9-13, age 14-17 and age 18 and up. Winners in each category will receive Carmi Chamber Buck Gift Checks.
The Taste of Christmas Baking Contest will consist of two categories: Cakes & Pies and Cookie and Candies. There is no fee to enter this contest. Categories do not include rolls or muffins. Prizes will be awarded for both 1st and 2nd places in each category.
All Entries should be delivered to The Print Shop/The 103 Community Room (side door
next to the park) between 1pm-2pm on Saturday, November 27th with entry form.
Judges score on the following: Appearance, tenderness, texture, flavor and Christmas
theme. Entries will be judged between 2pm-3:30pm on Saturday, November 27th
